The age of computer has made the procedure of coordination and collaboration more comfortable and simpler. It has introduced a number of computer apps ranging from Word, Excel to PDF or Power Point and much more. Among all these Portable Document Format is the universally applied document. This file format is employed due to it is innovative and altered features. The PDF file format is a non-editable format that may transfer your info throughout multiple platforms and efficaciously coordinates the physically distant people. As the name suggests, it is one of the most portable and compatible computer application. It may likewise make the task of the user easy and flexible.

Reasons of Converting to the Portable Document Format:

In the work process, there are some times when you need to convert the files in a format that gives professional activity of formally presenting something to your work. The Portable Document Format is an idealisti format for this intention as it gives a neat and clean aspect to the contents. This file format is also portable in nature which means that the transfer of the files all over multiple platforms. The compression algorithms compress the size of the file so that the files become lightweight. The lighter files are easy to transfer throughout the platforms. This document also supports the multimedia content with which you may make the document interactive. A person may integrate graphics or images in the documents. The multimedia content or the graphics and images may make the documents interactional in nature. The compression algorithms compress the size of the documents having multimedia content. These algorithms make the file size light and consequently transferable. This feature makes the files without apparent effort transferable all over dissimilar types of systems. You may even use hyper links to provide further and added selective information to the reader. On transferring the file, the contents of the document remains intact and preserved.

One of the modern features is that of the security features. A person may set the security features to protect the contents of the files from unauthorized viewing, printing, editing or copying. These are the gains of using the PDF documents. Due to these flexible features the file format has become frequent in it is use. So convert your priceless documents to PDF using word to PDF converter software and make your files secure and intact.

5Excellent textbook
By Paul Amer Grants
While some books may cover individual compression techniques in finer detail, Sayood’s book provides the best comprehensive overview of the data compression field including video, voice, images, text, music, etc. The reader gains a deep respect for the underlying mathematical basis for compression without being inundated with complex mathematics. I use this book for a senior undergrad / beginning grad student level course at the University of Delaware, and strongly recommend it to others.

4Very well-written book, software not so good
By Dinkar
The book is one of the clearest I have read as a text book. Why cant everybody write like this?? There is very good flow throughout the text.

Only complaint is the software. It looks the software has not kept pace with the book itself. Some additional software has to be added (for Transform coding, for instance), and some references in the text book to the software are incorrect. If the accompanying software is upgraded, as it should be, I will rate this book a clear 5-star.

5Can’t see any alternatives
By Sakesun Roykiattisak
Many reviewers tried to say that this book should avoid the word “INTRODUCTION” in it’s name because of it’s intensive mathematics. But I’m totally disagree. Mathematics and all theoretical aspects explained in this book is just a preliminary review compare to what the researchers all around the world are doing in the data compression area. This book is really an “INTRODUCTION” book.

This book is very comprehensive. You’d absolutely need it if you are going to start a research in this area. If you’re just wonder how data can be compressed, you can try other easy books like Peter Wayner’s :”Compression Algorithms for Real Programmers”. Or if you need compression as a feature in your software product, I’d suggest you not to implement it yourself. Try 3rd party library. Data Compression is the job for specialists.
