Quick Overview of Ann Michell, Vedette and Spanx

In my last article, I went over the dissimilar types of women’s body shapers; the shaper, the slimmer and the enhancer. Now I would like to do a quick comparison of the top three brands of body shaping merchandise for women – Ann Michell, Spanx and the Vedette.

Vedette: The Vedette shapers are made from a Brazilian rubber that is breathable. This line features one of the biggest ranges of merchandise amid all the body shaper brands. Their line includes corsets, briefs, boy shorts, full body shapers and butt heightening panties. The designers of Vedette merchandise are masterful at slimming the waistline. Their but heightening productions come in two styles, padded panties and briefs as well as but cut out shape wear. The butt cut out style is designed to lift the buttocks without covering it with fabric, thereby giving it the aspect of looking fuller and shapelier.

Spanx: The Spanx brand fall underneath the category of “hosiery shape wear”. Ann Michell and Vedette are made from rubbery materials whereas Spanx (as well as Flexees, Dr Rey and Slimpressions) are made from a lycra spandex type material. Spanx is one of the most widely recognizable brand names in women’s shape wear and their brand has expanded immensely over the years. Their product line now includes shapers, slips, tights, body suits and camisoles. As I noted earlier, Spanx is a style of hosiery shape wear. While the material is thicker and heavier than normal pantyhose – the lycra spandex is lighter than the rubber material of Ann Michell and Vedette. This style of shaper is good for it’s smoothing effect. It does not have the “oomph” of firm compression shapers, but it will make you look and feel sleek.

I too was disappointed with these spanx shorts. I purchased these shorts to wear under a long black gown. If I stood still they did not show through, but after walking and sitting the shorts ride up and the waist band does show a little. They do help control a belly and jiggling behind, but are very uncomfortable. I am 5’3″ and weigh about 130 lbs and found myself in between a large and medium – medium extremely tight / could barely get on, large a little big but way more comfortable especially if you want to eat dinner while you are out. I could not wait to take them off at the end of the night. The material did not breath and just felt gross. You are not going to have any fun at an event if you are uncomfortable, next time I will leave these at home and embrace my imperfections..

Am I the only only who is continously disappointed in Spanx products? This was my last try. The product was thick, heavy and kept rolling down. Will not purchase these expenses products again.
